Access to Justice in pandemic times in Brazil
New challenges have been posed for access to justice in the world, nowadays. More than half of the world’s population does not have an effective form of protection of the law or of their rights. These challenges are part of Goal 16, of the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development. Of course, access to justice depends on the promotion of diverse forms of accessibility (linguistic, economic and structural) directly connected to social, political and economic transformations, thus its enforcement will always be an ongoing process. However, new barriers were raised to due to the Covid-19 pandemic, undermining access to justice, especially in Brazil, country with high levels of social vulnerability. Take in consideration these events, this panel intends to discuss the impacts of the pandemic on access to justice in Brazil. Its papers will demonstrate the actions performed by several actors who integrate, or not, the justice system in order to realize access to justice.
