Constitutionalism and Democracy

The panel presents comparative perspectives of Constitutional Law in Latin America and the 230 Agenda Sustainable Development Goals. The six papers have a common theme: the transformative role of Constitutional Law in Latin America and its impact on achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.

For this purpose, the panel includes six papers, on (i) the comparative perspective of the transformative Constitutional Law of the region with the Constitutional Law of Italy; (ii) state fragility as an adverse condition to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals in the post-pandemic; the current situation of transformative Constitutional Law in Colombia, taking into account (iii) the challenges of the Welfare State model, (iv) the balance of the 1991 Constitution and (v) the role of the regions in the 2030 Agenda; as well as (vi) the challenges of constitutionalism in Bolivia based on the standards of the Inter-American Human Rights System.
