Global Studies in Action: Citizens/Voters and the Future
This panel intends to illustrate some of the interdisciplinary research lines developed within the PhD programme Global Studies. Justice, Rights, Politics housed at the University of Macerata. This year, we will focus on some current phenomena that impend on citizens/voters and their political representation (both in national institutions and in the EU Parliament) in terms of imperative mandate and involvement in political parties – privacy in the pandemic – freedom against digital platforms – the Italian best practice of citizens‘ participation in a shared administration of urban commons. Does (and, if so, how) the relation between citizens/voters and authority change? With which benefits? How far is yet the completion of those crucial processes that are necessary for a healthy development of these transformations?
