Political systems in time of pandemic. Citizens distancing from participation and representation
The COVID-19 pandemic has affected the forms of exercise of the public powers and consequently the system of the sources of law. The coronavirus crisis has indeed become a truly democratic question, regarding the role of the Administration, the Parliament the local governments, and the effects on popular participation. In fact, during the pandemic distancing, citizens have been socially and politically marginalized (for instance, in Italy the elections have been postponed) and the political leaders have taken all decisions by themselves, thinking about consent much more than to the general interests. This is evident when it comes to the weakened role played by political parties and democratic bodies.
